Returns the internal mean of the dataset. The TRIMMEAN function removes a certain percentage of data points from the head and tail of the dataset and then averages them.
You can use this function when you want to exclude calculations from a portion of the data in your analysis.
grammar
TRIMMEAN(array,percent)
array is an array or area of values that needs to be collated and averaged.
percent is the percentage of data points to be removed in the calculation; for example, if percent = 0.3, 6 data points will be removed in a collection of 20 data points
Data points (20 x 0.3) : 3 removed from the head and 3 removed from the tail.
Instructions
- If percent < 0 or percent > 1, TRIMMEAN returns error #NUM! .
The TRIMMEAN function rounds down the number of removed data points to the nearest multiple of 2. If percent = 0.1, 10% of the 30 data points
It’s equal to 3 data points. The TRIMMEAN function symmetrically removes one data from the head and one data from the tail of the data set.
