COUNTIFS counts data meeting different conditions

The COUNTIFS function applies the condition to cells across multiple regions, and then counts the number of times all the conditions are met.

grammar

COUNTIFS(criteria_range1, criteria1, [criteria_range2, criteria2],…)

The COUNTIFS function syntax takes the following arguments:

■criteria_range1: Required, where the first area of the association condition is calculated.

■criteria1: Required, conditional in the form of numbers, expressions, cell references, or text, defines the range of cells to be counted.

For example, a condition can be expressed as 32, “> 32”, B4, “apples” or “32”.

■criteria_range2, criteria2,… : Optional, additional region and associated conditions. A maximum of 127 region/condition pairs are allowed.

Important: Each additional field must have the same number of rows and columns as the criteria_range1 argument. These areas need not be adjacent to each other.

Instructions

■ Conditions for each zone apply to one cell at a time. If all the first cells satisfy their association condition, the count is increased by 1.

If all of the second cells satisfy their association condition, the count is increased by another 1, and so on until all cells have been counted.

■ If the condition argument is a reference to an empty cell, COUNTIFS will treat the value of that cell as 0.

■ You can use wildcards in conditions, i.e., question marks (?) And an asterisk (*). The question mark matches any single character, and the asterisk matches any string.

If you want to find the actual question mark or asterisk, type the waveform character (~) before the character.
